Golf in Spain - Approx 40 mins away is a superb recently opened 18 hole golf course just outside Antequera in Malaga Spain set amidst stunning mountain scenery. There is also a huge choice of golf courses on the Costa del Sol.

Bird Watching in Spain
The area is excellent for birding either in the surrounding countryside, around the lake at Iznajar, other local lagoons or in more mountainous terrain nearby. There are Guided Bird Watching tours in Spain with an experienced local birder within these areas either on foot or by 4 wheel drive.

Walking/Mountain biking in Spain
This area is excellent walking country and offers a wealth of interesting walks, of varying degrees of difficulty ranging from the easier routes perhaps, through the olive clad hills nearby, around the lake at Iznajar or in more mountainous terrain and beautiful protected natural parks. The GR7 walking route or Gran recorrido which crosses the region of Andalucia forming part of the E4 european walking route (from Greece to Spain) passes close by between Villanueva de Algaidas and Villanueva de Tapia and into the Province of Cordoba. There are guided walking tours of half day or full day tours within the area subject to notice.

Horse Riding in Spain
Close by is an equestrian centre offering hacking and trail riding, accompanied hacks, day rides, riding lessons, dressage and jumping etc, run by a fully qualified English speaking instructor. www.ecuestrelasminas.com

Skiing in Spain
The ski resort at the Sierra Nevada (south of Granada) enjoys a longer than average season and offers excellent skiing to people of all abilities approximately one and a half hours away. There is also a dedicated snowboarding area, snow bikes and ski equipment for hire and Husky dog sleigh rides for the family.

Wolf Park! in Spain!
Located just south of Antequera is Lobo Park, a wolf theme park set in 40 hectares of land with four species of wolves, horse & donkey riding, petting zoo, restaurant and shop. Donkey Sanctuary in Spain

Quad Biking in Spain
For those seeking a more adventurous outdoor sport there’s a Quad biking centre situated towards Antequera where you can off road on a dedicated rough track terrain circuit with jumps!

Water sports in Spain
The lake at Iznajar offers safe swimming from it’s large gently shelving sandy beach and you can also hire pedaloes and canoes. It is possible to windsurf too and there is a sailing school during the summer months. The beach and shady pine woodland behind are perfect for BBQ’s and picnics. There is also a small beach side restaurant/café here.

The Coast
If you fancy a day trip to the coast one day, the Costa del Sol offers a wide choice of sandy beaches to the west and east of Malaga. Nerja is one of the nicest resorts with it’s pleasant beaches and nearby famous caves to visit. Going west of Malaga we have discovered a very nice beach with protected unspoilt parkland behind and small port with lively restaurants at Puerto Cabopino. The coast also offers other attractions including Tivoli world, a childrens theme park with rides and shows at Benalmadena, the Telerifico (cable car ride) and Selwo marina (dolphinarium) also at Benalmadena. There is also an excellent Zoo at Fuengirola, Selwo Aventura wildlife park at Estepona and various Water parks, Crocodile park and much more.

Restaurants & Bars in Spain
There are plenty of very reasonably priced places to eat offering a daily menu (menu dia) for around 7 to 10 euroswithin the area ranging from the more basic tapas bars & lively ventas to mesons and smarter restaurants all offering excellent typical Andalucian cuisine. We have our particular tried and tested favourites and are happy to recommend a selection to you whilst our guests are always recommending new places whilst on their travels.

Ferias and Carnivals
Throughout the summer months there are many ferias or fairs held in each town and village. These tend to last for a few days and include lots of lively music and dancing especially flamenco, childrens shows and fun fairs into the early hours! They are great fun and a good way to experience Spain as the Spanish do. The more serious and important Easter celebration (Semana Santa) with its colourful processions are quite a spectacle and definitely worth seeing.
